OVERVIEW: Agriculture primarily is the cultivation of soil and production of food crops plus the breeding of livestocks. It is derived from the Latin word "agri" which means "soil" and "cultura" meaning "cultivation". Agricultural practices are all activities and programs involved in agriculture from start to finish in any particular cultivation or breeding.

Agriculture dates back to time immemorial, the truth is, agriculture is as old as man and time itself. The history of agriculture records the domestication of plants and animals and the development and dissemination of techniques for raising them productively.

THE ISSUE AT HAND: Various techniques as rightly stated above has been adopted by agricultural practioners in their agricultural processes of cultivation, crop production and animal breeding. Some of these techniques include reduction of tillage, application of fertilizers and integrated pest management (IPM), integration of livestocks and crops, cropping rotations, cover cropping, adopting agroforestry practices, amongst many others.

But the issue and fact is, that with the advent of technology and industrial advancements, with the urge for increased agricultural productivity coupled with high demand for agricultural products, farmers have intentionally or unintentionally resorted to certain farming practices and techniques which are harmful to both the crops, the animals and most importantly, the SOIL. These techniques has given rise to unhealthy soil, polluted air, water and climate plus production of farm products that are low in nutritional quality.

THE ORGANICCO PROJECT: Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) are specific methods which, when applied to agriculture, create food for consumers or further processing that is safe and wholesome and the system/process also duly sustained. Records say that if soil erosions and unhealthy agricultural practices continue, there may be left for humans only 60 years for farming! In order to avert this situation, Organicco Limited was born into existence and came to limelight after over 10 years of extensive studies and developments into green-tech products to help restore the sustainability of the soil for further and continuous farming.
